Following Christ by leading missions

MissionConnexion Northwest Preconference Event

As leaders, how do we engage every generation to go to every generation with the gospel in our own generation? How can we better equip every generation to reach the nations on earth?

That is the topic we are addressing at Leadership Connexion 2024. Helping us will be two internationally known leaders from the Boomer and Gen-X generations respectively, along with the son of one of them from the Millennial generation. Each has a proven track record of presenting and defending the gospel to a skeptical world in engaging ways.

Leadership Connexion is an all-day training to better equip church mission leaders in their role.

  • Lunch included
  • Price: $75
  • [$65 price for MissionWorks Members]

Refocusing Our Ministries on the Main Mission

Virtually every church and ministry struggles to maintain an evangelistic mission over the long haul. What starts as an on-fire outreach enterprise can soon devolve into an inwardly focused club. Bestselling author Mark Mittelberg calls it The Second Law of Spiritual Dynamics: the problem of evangelistic entropy. So how can we turn around the ministries we lead or influence? How do we refocus on the Great Commission, and once again prioritize reaching our entire planet with the Good News of Jesus? In this highly practical seminar Mittelberg, along with his son Matthew (Content Director and speaker for Apologetics, Inc.), will unpack a proven 6-Stage Strategy for refocusing on the main mission Jesus gave us.

Session 1 –
1. Refocusing Our Hearts
2. Recalibrating Our Church Culture
3. Empowering the Right Leaders

Session 2 –
4. Equipping Our Members for the Mission
5. Building Teams Around the Mission
6. Unleashing Outreach Throughout the Ministry

Sean McDowell

SPEAKER

Author/Speaker

Dr. Sean McDowell is a gifted communicator with a passion for equipping the church, and in particular young people, to make the case for the Christian faith. He connects with audiences in a tangible way while imparting hard evidence and logical support for viewing all areas of life through a Biblical worldview. Sean is an Associate Professor in the Christian Apologetics program at Talbot School of Theology, Biola University and still teaches one high school Bible class which helps give him exceptional insight into the prevailing culture. Sean is the co-host for the Think Biblically podcast, which is one of the most popular podcasts on faith and cultural engagement. Two topics he will address include: True For You But Not True For Me and Worldview Behind Transgenderism, with ample time allowed for Q&A.

Session 3 –
TRUE FOR YOU, BUT NOT TRUE FOR ME
Don’t we live in a “post-truth” culture that cares more about feelings than facts? People often say, “That may be your truth, but it’s not mine,” as if truth changes based upon what we believe about it or how we feel. In this session, we will consider why truth is vital, learn how to properly define it, examine objections against its knowability and existence, and grasp the powerful implications of truth for our daily lives.

Session 4 –
THE WORLDVIEW BEHIND TRANSGENDERISM: We are in the midst of a gender revolution. People are reconsidering gender norms and wrestling with what this means for families, schools, sports, health care, the church, and many other social institutions. In this presentation, Sean compares and contrasts the worldview behind this new revolution with the historic Christian faith. It is only when we understand the worldview behind transgenderism that we can wisely address some of the difficult practical issues capturing the cultural conversation today.
