She is also passionate about training and coaching disciples who make disciples based on simple Biblical and research-based best practices…and serves Perspectives Global as the Co-Editor for the 5th Edition of the Perspectives curriculum…plus…
Pam is our Keynote speaker at this January’s MissionConnexion Northwest 2026 event…and co-presenter with Dr. Ed Stetzer at Leadership Connexion discussing: “The State of the Church, The Future of Missions, and a Gospel Path Forward”
With such a diverse and frankly fascinating background, I wanted to ask Pam a few more “down to earth” questions, to, you know, help us get to know her better. And, well, her responses did not disappoint!
1. How did you come to follow Christ as your Savior?
I came to follow Christ firstly as a young child at a Christian school. I clearly remember walking down front and asking Jesus into my four-year-old heart. My family did not even go to church at that time, but my parents wanted me to get a good education, so they sent me to the Christian school in our neighborhood. I don’t know if they realized how much Scripture memorization was a part of that education! A lady who worked in the school cafeteria invited me to go to church with her, and I did. My relationship with Jesus deepened dramatically when I was in college. It was then that I decided I was “all in” with Jesus. It’s the best decision I’ve ever made.
2. Were there any barriers you had to overcome or surrender, to come to the point of serving the Lord in the capacity you do now?
When I knew clearly that the Lord was inviting me into overseas service as a missionary, I was very worried about how my parents would take it. After all, they had paid for my education and now I was not going to have a set salary and was about to move far way to a difficult place. I told the Lord I would pray for several weeks and that He had to prepare my parents’ heart to receive this news of my calling. When I finally told my parents, they accepted my calling easily. I was grateful for that. My bigger surrender daily is to my own conceptions of what “my” ministry ought to look like. Daily my heart needs to be returned to a place of only focusing on whatever brings God the greatest glory. Several times each day I lose track of the primacy of His glory in my life and pause to re-surrender to His will His way. I have built in times into my daily routine to reconnect with the Lord.
3. How do you see the Lord using you through your ministry to benefit and strengthen the local Church?
I think I bring encouragement to local churches by reminding them of our purpose and of our fellowship with our beautiful Jesus. When we remember that we are a people called into relational joy with God and out of that we are given the dignity and honor of service, people’s hearts awaken both to God’s great goodness and their identity in Christ. I also have the privilege of having seen God at work all across the globe. It is joyful to be connected to the global body of Christ and to receive news from the global body of Christ. Global news and connection help awaken the local heart of the individual believer, helping them to reimagine their own context and their own role in God’s wonderful purposes.
4. What would be 1 or 2 things you would want to leave with those attending MCNW ’26?
Firstly, God’s purposes will absolutely be achieved. There is no chance of His plans failing. We can rest in this knowledge and have a wonderfully abnormal peace that surrounds us no matter what happens in politics, personally, or to the planet itself. Secondly, participation in His mission is not an onerous or difficult task undertaken by a few superhumans who can be strong enough. His plans are for all of his children, and He gifts us His power and strength in the middle of our weaknesses as we walk with Him in a joy-filled relationship.
