UNSHAKEN in Just 1 Week!
By Bill MacLeod, Director
In just 1 week MissionConnexion Northwest 2026 will be here with its ‘unshaken’ theme reminding us from Psalm 62:6 that JESUS alone is our rock, salvation and defense; I shall be unshaken!
Here are some things that I am excited about this year…already in our 25th year:
Leadership Connexion

Having just returned from attending the Urbana Student Missions Conference with Jake Embleton (MCSW) we had the chance to meet up with Dr. Pam Arlund and Dr. Ed Stetzer who will both be keynoting, and speaking at Leadership Connexion on “The State of the Church, The Future of Missions, and a Gospel Path Forward” Register HERE.
Dr. Stetzer will also be sharing some compelling statistics about this topic as it relates to Portland from a book recently completed entitled “Covenant Mission in a Fractured City” and also sharing about “Talbot Embedded: Seminary in Portland” – Talbot Seminary’s plans to expand to US cities, including Portland and Seattle, in 2026.
70th Anniversary and The Museum of the Bible
January 2026 signifies the 70th anniversary of the 1956 Martyrdom of Portland’s own Jim Elliot and his four companions at the hands of the savage at that time Waorani tribe whom they were seeking to share the Gospel with. Members of the Elliot family along with The Museum of the Bible in Washington DC, will exhibit artifacts, and historical documents (including Jim Elliot’s Bible) and Curator Bobby Duke will also be with us and interviewed by our own Gilbert Gleason, a member of the Elliot clan by marriage. You will find their compelling exhibit just inside the main entrance.
“TUSfY” – The Unfinished Story for Youth course is designed for young believers aged 14 to 24, helping them form a biblical worldview that sees participation with God on mission as an exciting adventure and what it means to be a follower of Jesus. It gives an overview of the biblical, historical, strategic, and cultural aspects of God’s mission. We are excited to offer this opportunity for church youth and school groups. If you and your student(s) would like to register, please use the link HERE.
M.E. For YOU?
We will be joined this year by friends from the Middle East (M.E.) and around the USA who partner with KDEC – Kasr El Dobara Church, the largest evangelical church in the M.E. located in Cairo, Egypt. They are hosting their Partnership Conference immediately after our event Sunday and Monday at nearby Cedar Mill Bible Church. If you sense the Lord may be calling you to serve in some way in the M.E. or if you want to learn more about current realities and opportunities, please join us for a panel discussion with their leaders during the Saturday afternoon lunchtime session.
Cairn University
Besides Western Seminary, Corban University, Talbot Seminary, and Jessup University, Cairn University from the Philadelphia, PA area will be exhibiting for the first time. It exists to educate students to serve Christ in the church, society, and the world as biblically minded, well-educated, and professionally competent men and women of character. It is my Alma Mater when it was called Philadelphia College of Bible, and I am so proud to introduce them to you at Exhibit Booth #10. Stop by and talk with Graham Thorpe one of the university’s vice-presidents and ask him to tell you why you should consider studying at Cairn!
